My Hair Routine
Here is a list of the current hair products and hair treatments I use. I occasionally like to try new things, but I always come back the items listed below. I live in a climate where it's hot and humid in the summer and cold and windy in the winter, so I have two very different routines I follow. I don't use all the products at once - I like to switch up once in a while.

Conditioner Washes

Deep Conditioning etc.

Leave-Ins/Moisturizers

I also enjoy using the following products once in a while:

MY HAIR ROUTINE

Fall/Winter Styling:

Winter is tough on my hair. Between the cold temperatures, the dry air, and wearing hats outside I have to protect my tresses. I try to wear protective styles as much as possible.

1.) I lightly spray my hair with water, put my hair into 6 flat-twists and put a little grapeseed oil on the ends of each flat-twist.

2.) If I am not leaving my house, I usually will keep the flat-twists in, but if I am leaving my house, I will just unravel my flat-twists and fluff.

Once the style gets old, I can put it in an updo or in a puff. Then when it gets really old, I simply repeat! That's it!
Spring/Summer Styling:

One of the first lessons I learned during my first summer as a natural is don’t fight the humidity - work with it. When it’s humid, my hair is usually in a puff or out and wild.

1.) Do a daily conditioner wash or just rinse with water. (Sometimes I skip a day).

2.) Apply a leave-in conditioner on damp wet hair in about 8 sections for proper coverage.

3.) Gently towel-scrunch with and Aquis Hair Towel to stop the drippies then I let air-dry.

MY HAIR TREATMENTS

Once a month:

Clarifying: I use a warm water/baking soda mixture as a rinse before deep conditioning. This helps to get rid of the build up on my hair and it really does get my hair clean and it's not harsh. After doing this, my natural sheen returns, my hair is clean and the build-up is gone.
Deep Conditioning Treatment: I like using Dominican Conditioners, Curls Ecstasy, or Elasta QP DPR mixed with a little avocado oil or coconut oil and a couple drops of peppermint essential oil (which makes the scalp tingle!) I mix everything in a container and finger-part my hair in several sections and apply. Then I cover with saran wrap and leave on for a couple of hours. Then I rinse out and my hair feels heavenly and very moisturized!
Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse: I use this as a final rinse. It helps to seal up the hair to help make it smooth, shiny, detangle the hair. It also helps to gets rid of product buildup.

Note - I do all of this back to back every 2 weeks and it's not as difficult or time consuming as it may sound. I just combine it with my regular beautifying time.

OTHER INFO

The only time I use (indirect) heat is when I deep condition and it's only for about 2 minutes and I don't straighten my hair.

I trim or dust my ends about every 2 months.

I detangle about every week or two (depending on how I am wearing my hair) with a K-Cutter comb and Biolage Detangling Solution. During those in between days, I use my fingers to detangle in the shower.

I do nothing to my hair at night, I sleep with a stocking cap on. Wearing satin scarves does nothing for me - in fact they always end up on the floor. Here's how to make a stocking cap: take a pair of regular black stockings (queen size for my big head and big hair - haha), cut the legs off, leave about 2 inches to tie in a knot, and then put it on your head.

Disclaimer: This regimen works for me and my hair. Every head of hair is not created equal. I suggest trying different products and routines to see what works for you. :)
