Hair Treatments

The following recipes are used to treat the hair in various ways (such as to protect the hair from breakage, to increase hair growth etc.)

Cucumber/Oil Hair Treatment

  • 1 egg
  • 1 eggshell's worth of olive oil
  • 1 quarter of a peeled cucumber

This mixture is good for those who swim in a pool often. Blend the egg, olive oil and peeled cucumber. Spread evenly through your hair, leave on for 10 minutes, then thoroughly rinse. (Thank you Kim).

Hair Growth Mixture

Place ingredients in a container and mix well. Use one finger to dip into the mixture and gently massage into the area.

The ingredients are known to aid in hair growth, which is perfect for helping regrow the hairline. It is fine to use a little every night, only if you clean your hair often (at least a few times per week). It's important to rinse off the heavy oils so they won't clog your hair follicles - which can cause itches and slow down hair growth. Note, you can purchase all of these items from a health food/vitamin store or online!

MotownGrl's Scalp Energizer

Directions: Place ingredients in a spray bottle and spray directly on scalp. This will leave your scalp feeling alive and smelling great! Shake well before each use. This relieves an itchy scalp or that uncomfortable feeling I get when my hair is growing. It can also encourage hair growth.

Egg & Honey Treatment
  • 1 tablespoon honey 1 egg yolk1/2 teaspoon almond oil
  • 1 tablespoon yogurt

Mix together apply to hair and let site for at least an half hour.

Olive Oil Treatment (Hot oil treatment for dry hair)

  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1 plastic cap or plastic grocery bag

Heat oil in the microwave until warm. For easy application, carefully pour the olive oil into a spray bottle to the ends and dry parts of your hair (avoid getting it on your scalp). You can use your fingers too, but I found the spray bottle to easier. After you have applied the olive oil, put on an old shower cap or a plastic grocery bag (I prefer the grocery bag).

For a deeper treatment, wrap a hot towel around the shower cap and leave on your hair for at least one hour. Apply shampoo directed to your hair without water first, then slowly work the water in. You can choose to use conditioner afterwards if you wish. Make sure you rinse it out in the kitchen or bathroom sink - not in the shower!
