The UPA ClipReviewed by: MG Review: >The winter months are tough on my hair. Humidity, warm weather and moisture is what it craves, so every winter I try to keep my hair in protective styles as much as possible. Last year it was microbraids, and the year before that I mostly wore buns - but I was looking for something different this year. A visitor of MotownGirl.com recently e-mailed me about a product called a UPA Clip (Undetectable Ponytail Attachment). It is a hair piece that you snap around your own ponytail and it securely stays in place. It is a great item to protect to own hair and there are no pins, or sharp items to damage your hair. (There are metal clips on it, but they are covered so nometal will touch and cut your hair.)
When I first saw I figured it wouldn't over my thick natural hair, but was I wrong. Not only does it fit, it is very comfortable to wear and I did not experience any pulling or tugging whatsoever! Also the hair quality is great, it's not cheap-looking or plastic-like. I've tried wearing drawstring ponytails and those ponytails with the hair clamp, but those were very uncomfortable and bulky.
How to put on a UPA Clip: 2. Open the barrette of the UPA Clip and place it over your natural ponytail (at the base). 3. Close the barrette to close it shut. This entire process took me literally 7 seconds! I am wearing the Wet and Wavy in 1B/14" (combed out) in the above pic, but I have cut it a bit and thinned it out.
Aside from the many pretty barrettes available to choose from, and there are plenty of hair textures and color selections as well. You can also choose how thick or thin you want the hair to be and if you need a custom hair color, you can send the owner/creator Michelle pictures of your hair and she will customize your hair piece.
Here are a couple of other styles I was able to quickly create:
