How
did your business start?
Cocoa
Mode is a weekly radio program dedicated to African American women who
are concerned with looking and feeling their best. I started the show
to fill a void in the Talk Radio market. For years, Program Directors
believed that women weren't interested in Talk Radio. I'm here to prove
that if you create compelling, entertaining and informative programming
for women they will listen.
What
does your business offer customers?
Cocoa
Mode offers Women of Color from all over the world a place to discuss
those things that are most important to our lives without fear of judgment.
Each week I invite experts in various fields to share tips and tricks
to building self-esteem, healthy relationships, financial wellbeing, the
perfect wardrobe, you name it. We also present weekly product reviews
and showcase female owned African American businesses.
What
do you love the most about being running your business?
Everything!!!
Really, I'm so blessed to be able to do what love while at the same time
helping women look and feel great. Every week I feel like I've just enjoyed
a two hour conversation with a million of my closest girlfriends.
What
do you love the most about being running your business?
No
where else will you find a show dedicated to every aspect of the African
American female experience. Cocoa Mode is the voice of Black Women nationwide.
How
does your business positively contribute to the natural hair community?
I
am a natural beauty and every week I try to encourage women to embrace
that which the creator has given each of us. I hope that women listening
to the show walk away feeling great about their skin, hair, body, mind
& spirit, no matter the color, texture, size or IQ!
What
are your goals for your business in the future?
I'm
taking Cocoa Mode worldwide!!!!! I'm currently looking for a syndication
deal that will allow me to reach out to even more women through terrestrial
(versus Satellite) radio. In addition, I'm working on creating a Cocoa
Mode mentoring program for young girls and college students.
I
would also like to produce a "Cocoa Mode Beauty and Wellness Tour"
featuring experts in Beauty, Health, Finance and Relationships to travel
across the US, Europe and Africa. I want to bring women from all over
the Diaspora together to celebrate our beauty and empower the next generation.
