MG Hair Routine

Here is a list of the current hair products and hair treatments I use. I occasionally like to try new hair products, but I always come back to the following items listed below. I don't use all the products at once and I like to switch up once in a while.

Disclaimer: This regimen works for me and my hair. Every head of hair is not created equal, so I suggest trying different products and routines to see what works for you. :)

Conditioner Washes

Deep Conditioning etc.

Leave-Ins/Moisturizers

Must Have Items

I also enjoy using the following products once in a while:

Nightly Regimen:

1. Lightly spray little of my leave-in conditioner mixture. My hair is damp and not soaking wet when finished.

2. Place about a nickel size of Fractionated Coconut Oil in my palms, rub my hands together and as place it throughout my hair concentrating on my hairline and the ends.

3. Then I put 2 - 6 braids in my hair (depending on how loose I want the waves and how tired I am. More braids equals more waves).

4. Put on a scarf.

Daily Regimen:

1. Unravel braids, then I shake my head (like I am saying "no"), gently separate some of the waves and go.

Or if I'm wearing a wash and go look, I follow these instructions.

My every other week routine:

1. I clarify my hair with a warm water/baking soda mixture as a rinse before deep conditioning. This helps to get rid of the build up on my hair and it really does get my hair clean and it's not harsh. After doing this, my natural sheen returns, my hair is clean and any product build-up is gone.

2. Then I follow with a deep conditioner mixed with a little olive oil, avocado oil or coconut oil. I put my hair in several sections and apply. Then I cover with saran wrap or a plastic grocery bag and leave on for a couple of hours. Then I rinse out and my hair feels very moisturized!

Other Notes:

- The only time I use (indirect) heat is when I sit under my dryer to deep condition (only for appx. 5 minutes) and I don't straighten my hair.

- I detangle about every week or two (depending on how I am wearing my hair) with a K-Cutter comb and Biolage Detangling Solution. During those in between days, I use my fingers to detangle in the shower.

- I occasionally will use a protein treatment a couple times of year when I feel that my hair needs it (too much moisture and not enough strength).
