Natural Hair Growth Tips

Bookmark and Share

Dear Kelli: Hello, due to bad bleaching and coloring job from my old hairdresser, the ends of my hair were severely damaged and I had to cut all the color out. I would like to know how long does it take for natural hair to grow out? Also do you have any tips on how I can get my natural hair to speed up? I have been noticing some growth thus far and was just curious. Thank you for your time.

Kelli: First let's address the color issue - was your hair in true healthy shape prior to coloring? Did you truly take all precautions such as minimal heat, protection from the elements ,and what products did you use? Just note that color is always a risk and the older it gets the dryer the ends become. The speed of hair growth is roughly 1.25 centimeters or 0.5 inches per month, being about 15 centimeters or 6 inches per year. With age the speed of hair growth might slow down to as little as 0.25 cm or 0.1 inch a month. Overall health of your body will speed up hair growth such as good eating habits, water, and exercise. You may also look into vitamins with E, B, and Biotin, but please check with your doctor first before you begin consuming vitamins.
